Hadrosaur dinosaur tooth

Hadrosaurs were a group of plant eating dinosaurs that lived along waterways of forested coastal plains and bald cypress swamps. These dinosaurs like Hypacrosaurus, Corythosaurus, and Edmontosaurus lived in this semi-tropical environment in what is now Alberta during the Cretaceous time period.

Hadrosaurs are called duck-billed dinosaurs for a good reason, the front of the skull and lower jaws in these ancient extinct reptiles are elongated and broadened to form a “beak” shaped like the bill of a duck. The “beak” is boneless but was covered with a hard, horny sheath so the animal could shovel about sorting its food.

The teeth of Hadrosaur dinosaurs are quite remarkable, there is a battery of overlapping and inter-braced on each jaw, and two batteries on either side of the skull. Each tooth is prism shaped, and arranged in alternating rows and tightly pressed together forming a pavement of teeth.
